Goldwater Brewing to open new East Valley location, boost production capacity
Goldwater Brewing Co., based in Scottsdale, has plans to open a new location and production facility in Gilbert.
The 10-year-old brewery recently acquired a 2.5 acre property at 685 S. Gilbert Road in Gilbert where it plans on building a production facility, taproom and a larger Biergarten-inspired outdoor patio.
Located just north of Warner Road, the new Goldwater Brewing Co. location will located just minutes south of downtown Gilbert.
Goldwater acquired the site from Scottsdale-based Oakmark Development LLC for $3.8 million in September, according to Maricopa County records. The site was previously used by Mesa-based Cider Corps until it shuttered in 2022. Oakmark acquired the site in June 2023 for $2.5 million.
Goldwater has brought on Tempe-based architecture firm Cifuentes Studio to design the space.
The new facility will be used increase its craft beer production. Dillon McClelland, a co-founder of Goldwater Brewing told the Phoenix New Times that the brewery’s current production facility produces enough for its three locations – Scottsdale, Mesa and Tempe – and for a little bit a distribution.
The addition of a new 30-barrel brewing system going into the Gilbert property will allow Goldwater to significantly scale up operations and create enough product that it can be sold in retail establishments. On the Business Journal’s 2025 largest craft breweries list, Goldwater came in at No. 22, producing 1,645 barrels in 2024.
The purchased property already contains two buildings. In the larger of the two structures, about 6,500 square feet will go towards the beer production facilities. Goldwater will then use the other 2,500 square feet for a tap room. Its outdoor patio area will be around 1,000 square feet and it will be framed by a 27-foot grain silo.
The property will also have room for food trucks to operate.
The town of Gilbert has already approved a building permit for the project and construction can start when a general contractor is selected.
